I love to cook. I always enjoy myself while I’m cooking and it’s fun experimenting with flavors and ingredients and making something that tastes good. I cook just about every day of the week. But I’m not good at baking. For whatever reason, I always mess up when I’m baking and the end result is rarely edible. However, last year, I decided to give baking another shot on my son’s first birthday. It was a pretty easy recipe, and it didn’t end up being too bad. But then again, I was baking for a one year old who would’ve eaten just about anything.
This year, I decided to try and bake something a little more difficult for his second birthday. When I say “difficult”, I mean difficult for me, which may be pretty easy for someone more confident in their baking ability. Anyway, what I made was a chocolate and banana layer cake, and I was surprised at how delicious it was. After baking it, my wife made some frosting and I drew an Anpanman face. It didn’t look very pretty but my son loved it, which is really the only thing that matters. I actually had a lot of fun, and, while I don’t plan on baking more in the future, I’m already looking forward to making something fun for him next year!
