Now that the nights are starting to get chilly, I feel like we’ve finally entered my favorite season… fall (or autumn, if you like)! The reason I like it is because I like cold weather, I love to see the leaves change, and I enjoy fall foods. Some of my favorite produce in fall includes sweet potatoes, peppers, taro, apples, ginkgo nuts, chestnuts, persimmons, and mushrooms. Soup is also one of my favorite dishes, and that becomes a staple in fall, at least at my house.
In speaking of home, I also like staying inside during an autumn evening with a cup of hot herb tea, a good book, and a fuzzy blanket wrapped around me (or the lower half of my body under a kotatsu, a low table with an electric heater built in). My Japanese friend gave me a kotatsu for Christmas a few years back, and I’m convinced it’s one of the best and most practical gifts I’ve ever received!
Wishing all of you a wonderful fall.
