Last weekend I went for a bike ride with Ryan. We went to our favorite restaurant in Yoro at the Funato clinic. They make delicious macrobiotic food there. After the lunch, which was amazing, we decided to bike to Yoro station and take the train back home. Along the way there was an excavator sorting the remains of a destroyed building. I watched the machine pick up scraps and was oddly fascinated by its work. When I was a kid I always thought these giant vehicles looked like dinosaurs.
It was such a beautiful day, I thought this ordinary spectacle of destruction was an interesting contrast to the blue sky and relative peace. Even though it’s nothing special, it made me wonder what used to be there and what would take its place.
