日本に大きな台風１０号が接近していますね。

窓が割れたり、浸水したりと多くの被害がでています。まさかそんなこと起こらないだろうと思っているといざ起きた時に対処できないものです。

水や食料など、可能な範囲で備蓄しておく必要があるかもしれません。

また、自分たちでできそうな対策があればチェックしたり、こまめに台風情報を確認しておくことも大切ですね。

Summer has been here for a minute now and a fun thing to do is go and see the sunflower field in Ogaki. Every year the area is filled with the yellow flowers that shine amongst that backdrop of mountains and Shinkansen track. If you’re lucky, you could even see Dr. Yellow! Have y’all been here?

Kia ora and hello everyone!

A few weeks ago, when my dad and little brother came to Tokyo – we visited Tokyo Skytree!

It was crazy seeing so much of the city from so high up – did you know Tokyo is the biggest city in the world? 

Afterwards, we went to the Ghibli store at the base of Skytree, and my little brother was pretty excited to see a giant Totoro!

今週の授業で配布されるステッピングアップに、夏のイベント「イングリッシュデイ」の写真や先月実施された小中学生リビュークイズの成績上位者が掲載されています。次回のテストは１１月です。上位に入っていた皆さんはぜひこの調子で、次こそは！と思っている皆さんは２学期のレッスンをさらに集中して取り組んでもらえたら嬉しいです。

９月の終わりから１０月のはじめにかけて第２回英検(R)の一次試験が行われます。多くの受験者の皆さんが自分の学年よりも少し難しい級を受験するのではないでしょうか。英検合格には単語の意味を覚えることがとても重要です。ハローズには勉強教材がたくさんあります。この１か月自習室にきてどんどん単語を覚えていきましょう！

9/2-9/7は、ハローズの年間スケジュールでお休みとなっています。9/9からまた始まります！お間違えのないように！

「座ってばかりいる怠け者」という日本語に訳す問題が、中学生の単語テストに出ていました。

ソファーなどにもたれてスマホをいじったりテレビを見たりとにかくダラダラとしているイメージです。

だらしない人という意味なのですが、普段てきぱき動いて学校やお仕事を頑張っている人がお休みの日に”I’m a couch potato today…”と言ったら、そんな日もあっていいのでは？と声をかけてあげたくなりますね(^^)

After arriving in Hokkaido and spending one day and night in Sapporo we headed toward the center of Hokkaido with our destination being the town of Furano. The road there was very beautiful. It followed a river and along it we were able to see some great sights like waterfalls. Furano has many flower farms. We stopped at one that had a chairlift ride up to the top of the hill with a great view of the town down below. It was a great day out of the city and getting into nature.

最近、外国で2歳児の書いた絵に4300万の入札価格がついたというニュースを

見ました。

彼がどんなふうに絵に目覚めたのかわかりませんが作品には

人の心を打つものがあったのでしょうね。

もはや天才です。

子どもは小さな大人ではないという言葉が好きです。

感性はみずみずしく、一緒にいると感動することばかり。

一筆一筆に迷いがなく勢いがあるところなど羨ましい限りです。

暑い夏もそろそろ峠を越し、芸術の秋がやってきます。

何にもとらわれることなく絵をかいてみるのもいいですね。

水彩画を描きたいなとずっと思っています。

I often work from the afternoon until late at night, so during summer vacation my living schedule is quite different.  My children are also on vacation, so I tend to wake up earlier and go to bed at a more reasonable time.  It allows me to enjoy certain parts of the day in a different way than I normally do.  I love to sit on my balcony when the sun is going down and appreciate the beautiful colors in the sky.  Here’s a picture of the beautiful sunset that I saw the other day.
