当たり前のことかもしれませんが、どこの国に行っても夕陽が沈む光景が見られるスポットは人気があるものです。この写真はアンコールワット付近で夕陽を見る地元の人と観光客です。赤いですよね！

夏休みも残りあとわずか。宿題がまだ終わっていない人はいませんか。

夏といえば海や川などレジャーが人気ですが、涼しい部屋で見る甲子園も捨てがたいです。

今年は、応援していた高校が惜しくも敗れてしまいましたが、どこの高校が優勝するのか楽しみです。

京都国際と関東第一。決勝は今週金曜日（明後日）です。

時間がある人はぜひ見てみてください。一緒に応援しましょう。

It’s that time of year again when towns light up for summer festivals. This month I attended the Water Festival in Ogaki. I got to enjoy lots of food and dance! Did y’all go to the festival?

Kia ora and hello everyone!

A few weeks ago, my dad and little brother came to Tokyo for a couple of days on their way back from The U.K.

I was lucky enough to go up and see them and we got to sight-see around Tokyo! My dad was here 35 years ago, but for my little brother, it was his first time!

It was insanely hot, so we spent most of our time sheltered indoors but it was a great time, and I’m glad I could show them around. I hope they come back soon!

学校の夏休みはまだ続きますが、ハローズの夏休みは今日までです。明日からは通常授業Lesson18が再開します。他の予定と重なっている場合はぜひ振替で別の曜日や別の校舎のクラスに来てもらえたらと思います。校舎に来たら先生たちに、夏休みの楽しい思い出を教えてくださいね。きっと外国人の先生のクラスでも尋ねられると思います。

地震の台風のニュースが多く流れています。生徒のみなさんが安全に夏休み後半を過ごせているといいなと願っています。

ハローズは来週８月１９日（月）の週から通常授業が再開します。

中学生は夏休み明けのテストに向けてさらに忙しくなりますが、体調を整えてベストを尽くしてくださいね！

I’ve wanted to go to Hokkaido for a while now. Every time I mention that to people they tell me that Hokkaido is nice for many reasons but one of the best reasons to go is for the food. They were right in recommending me to eat everything that I could. I didn’t get pictures of everything I ate, but it was all delicious. I ate Genghis Khan (ジンギスカン）, potatoes, yogurt, bread, butter, seafood bowls, and lots of meat and vegetables. Everything I ate was so delicious and I’m excited to go back to Hokkaido again for more delicious food!

夏ですが・・・

今日8月14日はハッピーサマーバレンタインデーです。

あるアニメがもとでこの日が夏のバレンタインデーとなったそうです。

夏には夏の楽しみ方があると思ったのは

常夏の国でクリスマスを過ごした時です。

自分が当たり前と思っていたことを

180度変えることで新たな驚きを体験すると

本当に何でもありで面白いですね！

12月だけどこたつもなく、マフラーもない毎日

冬のはずなのに半袖とサンダルでクーラーに涼む毎日

もちろん今まで当たり前だったことを恋しく思う気持ちはありますが

それよりある面白さは自分のこうであるべきという価値観を

これもいいんじゃない？に変えてくれるかもしれません。

いつもと違うところに身を置いて

いつもと違った体験ができるといいですね。

As many of my students know, I am a big fan of Pokemon.  And every summer, I get very excited about the annual Pokemon World Championships.  So I was very pleased to see that at Nagoya Station Gate Tower, there are Pokemon everywhere!  The walls and elevators on every floor of the building are decorated with Pokemon, and there’s a cool statue of Mew on the ground level just outside.  The atmosphere is great, and seeing Pokemon all over the place makes me very happy.

もう何十年も前にカンボジアを訪れたことがありました。お決まりのアンコールワット観光もしましたが、メコン川を下るクルーズ？もしました。そこには地上には土地を持てない人がずっと水上で生活する姿もありました。恵まれない子たちに文房具をあげるように言われ、鉛筆１００本程度を６０００円で買い、水上学校までいきました。本当に恵まれない一面もありましたが、観光客からそうやってお金を取る手法でもあると感じるお金でした。複雑な気持ちで学校で写真に写る一枚です。
