4月29日は昭和の日

昭和天皇がお生まれになった日です。

お亡くなりになったあと自然の恩恵に感謝する日としてみどりの日とされました。

その後2005年に昭和の日に改正され、2007年に施行されたようです。

激動の日々を経て、復興を遂げた昭和の時代を顧み、国の将来に思いをいたす、と

祝日法に定められています。

そして新緑がまぶしい季節を迎えるこの時季みどりの日は5月4日に移動

ゴールデンウイークで自然とふれあう機会があると思います。

私も毎年楽しみにしている藤を見に行ってきました。

ぼけっとしていると一番美しい時を見逃してしまうので今年は焦りました。

4月29日の花言葉にもなっている藤

香りが良く優雅に可憐に下がっている様が風に揺れて、香りも揺れて

春にぴったりの花です。

どれも本当にきれいです！

If you’ve ever walked through a spiderweb (yuck!), you know how sticky they are. So why don’t spiders get stuck in their own webs?

It’s all about how and where they walk. First, spiders have tiny claws at the ends of their legs that help them step carefully on the non-sticky parts of the web. Yep—some strands are sticky, and some aren’t!

Spiders also move very gently and precisely. They’re like tiny gymnasts doing a perfect balance routine.

Plus, spider legs are covered in a special coating that helps keep the sticky stuff from sticking. It’s like wearing invisible socks made of science!

Some spiders even clean their legs with their mouths to make sure they stay slippery and web-proof.

So while their webs are strong enough to catch flying insects, spiders are smart (and careful!) enough to dance across their own creations without getting trapped. That’s some serious web wizardry!

ある村の到着。地元の子どもたちと洞窟に行く途中にたくさんの野ブタに出会いました。自分は野ブタがめずらしく、子どもたちは初めて見るデジカメがとてもめずらしいようでした。

Getting married was fun, but taking my in-laws around San Antonio and Austin was the best! Everything really is bigger in Texas and I got to prove that to them.

Kia ora and hello everyone!

A few weeks ago, the cherry blossoms were blooming and beautiful! While you can see cherry blossoms nearly everywhere, I went to Gujo and saw some pretty ones.

I love Springtime with all the beautiful flowers and colours, it’s my favourite season!

Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 will be coming later this summer. I am so excited to get it and play all sorts of new games. One of the games I’m most excited for is Kirby Airriders. The GameCube game, Kirby Airride, is one of my favorites so I’m very excited to have a new game in that series. Along with the announcement, Nintendo opened a lottery to be able to pre-order the Switch 2 through Nintendo. I unfortunately didn’t get selected during the first lottery. I hope I can get the console soon enough.

イースターの日付は、春分の日以降の満月のあとに来る最初の日曜日。

今年のイースターは、4月20日です。

イースター前の金曜日をグッドフライデー

翌日の月曜日をイースターマンデーと呼び欧米では学校や仕事もお休みになります。

イースターが近づくと卵やウサギをモチーフとした飾りが街に飾られ明るい雰囲気に！

教会に行ったり家族や友人と食事を楽しんだりするようです。

日本ではどうやってお祝いするのかなじみが無く、100均で売られているカラフルな卵と

それを入れるかごを買って見ましたが、そのパステル調の色合いが、なんともうららかな春に

ぴったりで心まで優しくなれるようでした。

いつか本物の卵にすてきなペイントをやってみたい、子どもたちとかくして見つけて・・・

なんて平和でうれしいですね。

卵には復活や生命の意味があるようです。

卵の形をしたチョコレートもよく出ていますが、そんなのを食べながら復活について考えてみるのも

意味のあることですね！

Did you know elephants have some of the best memories in the animal kingdom? It’s true! Elephants can remember places, people, and even other elephants for many years.

So how do they do it? Well, elephants have really big brains—about three times as big as a human brain! But it’s not just the size that matters. It’s how they use it. Their brains have a part called the temporal lobe, which helps with memory, just like ours does. But in elephants, it’s even bigger and more powerful.

Elephants use their memory to find water during dry seasons. They can remember where a river or waterhole was—even if they haven’t been there in years! Older elephants also remember dangerous places and help lead their herd away from trouble.

Some scientists say an elephant’s memory helps the whole group survive. Imagine if your grandpa knew every good snack spot in town—that’s kind of what an older elephant does for its family!

So next time you hear someone say, “You’ve got a memory like an elephant,” take it as a big compliment!
