Thunderstorms

I really miss thunderstorms. In the almost 8 and a half years that I’ve been living in Japan, I can only recall a handful of thunderstorms coming through. In the rare event that one has passed through Nagoya, it’s usually ended pretty quickly. Back home in Chicago, thunderstorms were pretty common, and at least once a year we had a pretty big one! The only downside to this is that whenever a big storm would come, our power would usually go out – sometimes for hours or even days!
When I was a child, I was afraid of storms, but as I got older I found them to be very relaxing. The sound of rain is one of my favorite things, and the added sound of thunder can be very soothing. I hope that sometime soon (preferably on a day off!), we’ll get a nice big thunderstorm in Nagoya again.
