I moved into my new house last fall, but a lot of my stuff is still in boxes. This past weekend, I decided to finally organize my music collection. I love physical music and still buy CDs regularly, but my all-time favorite format is the cassette. When I was a kid, cassettes were very popular and I loved listening to my father’s tapes. Another big part of my youth was making cassettes for car rides or to give to my friends. It was always a fun time sitting down by the tape deck with blank cassettes and a stack of CDs and making mixes.
Though cassettes are not as popular as CDs or records, I still like to buy them when I can. Lots of indie bands release music on cassette, so I’ve been slowly building a collection over the past few years. Here are a few of my favorite cassette releases from Japanese bands.
