Hey y’all!

  A few weekends ago I took a drive down the せせらぎ街道 to Takayama. I’m sorry I don’t know the English translation for the road… Anyways, trees with orange, green and red leaves lined the entire way! The colors were so vibrant it looked as if someone had come in and dipped each leaf in acrylic paint. The pictures just don’t do the road justice! I also got to eat Hida beef and Takayama ramen, so you could say it was a wonderful day trip.

  So if you are looking for a beautiful day trip activity, take a drive through Gifu on the せせらぎ街道!

Hello everyone! I have been waiting for this season ever since I moved to Japan! I love Fall, but especially here! Back home, the trees don’t really change colors too much so I don’t always feel the Fall season. But I knew here in Gifu Prefecture, the nature around us was going to look even more amazing than past seasons.

I decided to go to Yoro Park, which isn’t too far from Ogaki. As soon as I arrived, I was taken back with how beautiful the scenery looked! I took so many pictures and the weather was just perfect! I’ll continue to safely look for more nature spots to explore this season! Stay safe everyone!

Last week we got flu shots! It’s not really fun at all, of course, but I secretly like getting flu shots… usually I get sick pretty easily in the winter so it makes me feel relieved to get a flu shot and be able to prevent feeling bad (maybe!).

The day we went to the hospital Nikki and I wore matching outfits! It wasn’t planned but it was interesting. We wore red shirts, black cardigans and check skirts. It cheered me up even though my arm hurt because of the flu shot 😥 

先週アメリカ大統領選挙がありました。

自分より年下の外国人講師たちが選挙ついて多くを話していたので、

アメリカ人の政治に対する関心の高さが分かります。

この場で個人的な政治意見を言うつもりはありません。

しかし話を聞いていたり、ニュースを見たりしていると

それぞれが育った環境や、現在置かれている状況によって

支持する人を決めたような印象を感じました。

いずれにせよ、人々がみな平等に暮らし

うまくコミュニケーションを取りながら

みなが納得のいく世になっていくよう

導ける人物であってほしいと思うばかりです。

前回に引き続き、スリランカの旅行の思い出を話していきたいと思います。

スリランカの世界遺産、シーギリヤロックを堪能したあと僕たちはキャンディという街に向かいました。スリランカの中央部に位置する大きな街です。街の中に湖があるきれいな街で、なおかつ標高が比較的高いところにあるため、年中暑いスリランカの避暑地にもなっています。リッチなスリランカ人はここに別荘を買うそうです。

ではどうやってここに行くのか。もちろんバスです。バスを使ってどんどん登って行きました。山や坂道を登って行くので結構揺れたのを覚えています。運転は荒いです。運転はみんな荒いのでもう慣れていました。（あの運転手に比べたらましかという部分もあったかもしれません…）人間は良くも悪くも、何でもすぐ慣れてしまう生き物ですね。海外旅行をすると毎回実感します。「あーこういうもんか。」「これが当たり前か。」というように。

キャンディに到着して、ホテルまで歩いていきました。少し街から外れた場所でしたが、とっても気持ちのよいホテルでした。毎回当たりのホテルをひいていましたね。一日目のホテルとは大違いです。

そしてこの街に来た理由は、火と象が街をにあふれるペラヘラ祭りをみるためです！
