The first Pokemon games came out when I was a teenager, and I remember having a lot of fun with them.  I played them on the original Game Boy and had a great time playing with my friends.  However, as I got older, I stopped playing and sort of grew out of that hobby.

This past January, my whole family got COVID.  More than two weeks of quarantine is difficult, but the hardest part was keeping two children entertained without really being able to go outside.  My son, who is five years old, enjoys Pokemon, so I decided to order some Pokemon cards online.  Within a couple days, we were ordering Pokemon plastic models, puzzles, and games, and it became something the entire family could enjoy.  For me, it was also a great way to revisit some of that nostalgia. 

Five months later, we are still enjoying that hobby.  We have Pokemon card battles on weekends, watch the anime together, and it’s become something we can all share and enjoy as a family. 

This past weekend, the Japan National Pokemon Card Championships were held.  We basically had it running on the TV all weekend as a backdrop for a Pokemon-themed family weekend.  It was a great time, and I even tried my hand at making some Pokemon-themed food! 

コロナ感染が拡大する前、直前と言っても2か月ほど前に行ったのはベルギーとオランダ。オランダでは田舎のチーズ工場や木靴工場を回りました。こんなアルプスの少女ハイジに出てくるようなチーズっておいしそうですね。3つほど買って日本に持って帰りました。当時のスイトテラス校の生徒たちも食べましたね。また、いろいろな国を回って、その素晴らしさをシェアしたいと思っています！

時々、写真のような赤い月を見ることがあります。

iPhoneで写真を撮りましたが、カメラの限界をむかえてしまいました。

次回出会う時は、一眼カメラを構えたいと思います。ちなみに、一眼レフカメラは、英語で、DSLRと言います。アルファベット4字で一眼レフを表します。DSLRのカメラでは、iPhone のカメラでも追いつけない写真が撮れますからね。

Hey y’all! 

To celebrate my 27th birthday, I went to Kyoto! More specifically, I went to Arashiyama for the first time. I’ve been to Kyoto at least 5 times, yet I had never been there! It was a truly stunning and mystical place. I swear it felt like a place right out of a Ghibli movie! I also ate a vegetarian meal at Tenryu-ji! It was delicious, but I still wish I there had been some a meat or fish with it. 

Anyways, I hope y’all are doing great and I’ll see y’all in class!

ハローズの小学生のレッスンではフォニックスを定期的に練習します。小学1年生から学年が上がるごとに特殊なものを学ぶ機会が増えます。学ぶ単語が難しくなり、英語の文章が長くなると英語を読むことが苦手になってしまう子がいますが、フォニックスの基礎的な知識を身に付け、少しずつ特殊なフォニックスに慣れることで読める英語はだんだんと増えていきます。今後も英語を読むことに自信を持ってもらえるように子どもたちと練習を積み重ねていきたいです。
